I have found an additional way to spell Nesmith, and it happens to be found in records that are very important to my NeSmith research: The man who immigrated to Monmouth New Jersey in 1684 was John Neismith, and John Neismith is shown as a "Redemptioner" who was bound for service for "ffour" years.
