I have dug up some more information for you. First, Elling Halverson died on March 18, 1910 in rural Slater, Iowa.
Second, more on the ancestry of Brit Halverson that shows him to be a Nervig descendent, too. Brit's maternal grandfather was Ingebrit Hanssen Kjellesvig. Engebrit's first wife was Ranveig Torbjornsdatter Nervik. Two children were born to them, Madela and Hans. Then the mother died, b: 1802, d: 1828. Then Ingebrit married his dead wife's sister, Ragnela Torbjornsdatter Nervik, b:1806, d: ??. To them were born seven children three or four of whom died in infancy. The youngest of the children was Ranveig Ingebritsdatter Kjellesvig. Ranveig married Ellling Halverson Nordhuus and she was the mother of Ingebrit Ellingsson whose American surname became Halverson. He, in turn, married Helga Nervig here in Iowa and they were the parents of Martha Halverson, your husband's grandmother. The best infromation that I have on Ranveig, Mrs. Elliing Halverson and Brit's mother is, b: 1837, d: 1886.
So, maybe this information will push back some of the frontiers of your searches for Nervig relatives. Paul J. Hermann.
