NELSON DNA PROJECT GROWING
NEEDS TO GROW MORE. Up until this message, there were 9,726 messages posted to GenForum, and only 23 participants in the Nelson DNA project. That's a lot of people looking for their UNKNOWN NELSON of NC and/or VA, elsewhere. This is NOT an automatic "Find Your Ancestor", but another tool.It CAN save countless hours looking through docs in unknown counties for yet another dead end.If you are a female and have a brother, uncle, father, cousin who is willing to be tested, it's painless. It's as private as you want it to be.There's no "Big Brother" who will come knocking at your door.OK, if he's a terrorist, maybe.
Don't waste time/money on a 12-marker test. There's a drop-down to the right of the 12-marker; order a minimum 25 marker, preferably 37.Otherwise, you may get descendants of Adam & Eve surnamed Doe, Jones, Smith, Williams etc.

Want to know more?Contact Gale Cole-Creel, the very nice administratrix of the project. Her email is on the above website. It did help me find a connection to Nelson of Botetourt Co., VA (early KY, with D. Boone blazing a trail)I never knew existed. I'm still sifting records, but at least I know where to sift.
