Debby, I think we have very similar sources.95% of the information I had agrees with with yours.I do not have the name of James Coulter's father and know nothing more on Nancy Nichols. I did have a typo as my G-G-Grandfather was John Perry Nelson Coulter and I trace my lineage thru his son Charles Adam Coulter. I was told that Nancy Nelson was a Quaker. The 1859 Monongahela Valley Directory (online) includes a Capt. John Nelson that could be her father. He was a riverboat captain between Mon City and Pittsburgh. I probably have the same information on the children of JPNC and Mary Chester (dau. of Sam Chester and Elizabeth Foster). I understand Mary was very heavy and confined to a wheel chair. My father (Philip Schuyler Hamilton Jr.) remembers her. My grandparents (Philip and Mary Kathryn Coulter Hamilton and are both buried in Mon City Cem.) did know your father and I recall they were quite impressed with his handwriting.I have some letters of his that were saved. I am sorry to hear of his passing. My G-Aunt Elizabeth Virginia Coulter (youngest dau. of Charles Adam Coulter and Martha Jane Boyd) is alive in Monongahela and still has a good memory. My dad and I hope to drive over from Columbus, OH soon to talk to her about the Coulter genealogy. Great to meet family with similar interests! [email protected]
