I am not familiar with the so called "Rappahannock girls", but the subject sounds interesting. I would like to learn more.
I can give you some general information on the Nelsons of King William County, Virginia. The almost three thousand acres in King William County, Virginia ran along the Pamunkey River which divides the boundries of Hanover and King William Counties. King George II granted this land to Thomas Nelson as was added to the extensive land holdings of Thomas "Scotch Tom" Nelson in King William and Hanover Counties originally granted by King George I in 1719.
The Thomas Nelson associated with "Bleak Hill" in King William County, VA. was one of two sons of the said "Scotch Tom" Nelson, and was known as "secretary Nelson", he being secretary of the Colonial Council of Virginia. He was married to Judith Armistead about 1745 and they had three surviving sons. Col. William Nelson, Capt. Thomas Nelson, and Major John Nelson.
The following may shed some light on the Thomas Cary Nelson to whom you refer. According to a book by Richard Channing Moore Page, M.D. titled Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia, Capt. Thomas Nelson had a son named Thomas Cary Nelson. He was born at "Bear Spring" located adjacent to the said "Bleak Hill" about 1776. He married an unknown and had two daughters: Catherine who married about 1831 to Charles Page.; Lucy who married about 1833 to John F. Page.
Note: "Bleak Hill", "Forkland", "The Dorrill", "Bear Spring" and "Horn Quarter" were part of the said 3,000 acre land grant.
This information may help to clear at least some of your questions.
