Hi, posting my Nelson again
I have Charles NELSON in 1802 at Tywattity and Lake St. Mary at New Madrid, Territory of Missouri, "Houck's History of Missouri", Volume 2, page 155.
Also, Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, Territorial Tax List of 1814, also living there future son-in-law, Turner Abernathy as a single man over 21 in Bois Brule Bottoms.
Also, on the 4th Monday in May of 1821, Charles T. NELSON, Turner ABERNATHY and others, signing a petition for a new justice of the peace at Bois Brule Bottoms ( Burnt Woods )in Perry County, Missouri,region was in Ste.Genevieve County, MO, County Court Proceeding, Book I, page 8, they were bothered by the rivermen on the Mississippi.
A lot of these families from SE Misssouri at the time of the Louisiana Purchase from France moved over into Illinois
Charles T. NELSON is on the 1825 census of Clinton County Illinois living on Sugar Creek.
Charles NELSON and Turner ABERNATHY are on the 1830 census of Washington County, IL, living somewhere around Okawville.
Charles NELSON died in 1834 at Washington County, IL,leaving a large family ( probate record ), Turner ABERNATHY died in 1835 at Washington County, IL, leaving a large family ( probate record ).

Charles NELSON'S daughter Margaret married Turner ABERNATHY, had 7 children, Robert, Benjamin, James, Celia, Elizabeth and Nelson Turner. Robert killed at Buena Vista, Mexican War, James died young but had one child, Benjamin, Celia, Elizabeth and Nelson Turner had large families. One child unaccounted for.
