Hello Glenys and thank you very much for your kind offer. The earliest I have been able to get back is John ELMS who died in 1774. If you could find any earlier connections I would be grateful because I really seem to have struck a brick wall here. The details I have are:
John ELMS Snr and his wife Elizabeth had the following children baptised at Shabbington: Elizabeth (15 Jul 1735 - buried 12 Oct 1735), Elizabeth (17 Oct 1736), John (31 Mar 1739), Mary (17 Jul 1743), twins William and Ann
(1 Mar 1746 - Ann buried 22 May 1749 and William was buried on 26 Nov 1779). Elizabeth, the wife of John, was buried on 10 Jul 1759 and on 22 Sep 1765 he married Mary CLAYDON of Thame. John, who was listed as Clerk of the Parish, was buried at Shabbington on 24 Jan 1774 and Mary was buried on 7 Apr 1785.
Note: entries up to 1770 were ELMS; after 1770 they were NELMS.
