Hello, my mother was a MURPH from the Cabarrus NC branch. I've been corresponding with some other MURF/MURPH researchers and it appears that there may be a significant connection between the MURF/MURPH and NEISLER families.
Specifically, it appears that the JOHN NICHLAR [NEISLER] in the 1790 Mecklenburg Co NC census and his next-door neighbor JACOB MURPH may be brother-in-laws. This part of Mecklenburg County became Cabarrus County later on.
A RUDOLPH MURFF married BARBARA NICLER [NEISLER]. There seems to be a significant chance that Barbara and John are brother and sister and also that Rudolph and Jacob are brothers.
One researher has found evidence that the Swiss Morf family moved to Germany and married among the Neuscheler family there.
Johann Neusheler who may be Barbara and John Neisler's father is buried in South Carolina in the same cemetery as Barbara and Rudolph Murff.
It appears that Johann Neusheler and a Morff immigrant came from Germany to South Carolina together and their sons Jacob Murph and John Neisler/Nichler moved to Mecklenburg/Cabarrus together.
I am told that another brother of Jacob and Rudolph Morf married the sister of Barbara Neuscheler/Neisler/Nicelar in Germany and remained there.
I would appreciate any information concerning this possibly family connection
