Hello,
My name is gretchen nein bergman, and henry nein was my gr-gr grandfather I believe. his son lewis was my dad's grandfather, his son earl was my dad's dad, and he died of prostate cancer in the 70's in washington state. My dad phillip and his sister suzanne were raised in middletown and cincinnati, and were estranged from earl for many years due to divorce from my grandmother, virginia shrout, who was from kentucky. Earl was a music teacher in bellevue, I believe, and had a second family incl a dtr named janet. my dad moved to maine and raised myself, my sis julia, brother johnson, married to my mother grace meserve. Later they divorced and he remarried janice chadwick, had a dtr sarah, and adopted janice's 2 boys, jason and joel. My father died 3 weeks ago in Maine after a long illness, we miss him greatly, he was only 69. I have been looking for the missing link to my line for a long time, I didn't know who lewis's father was, now I know. I'm very curious af where in germany he came from and would love this info if you have it. I have seen the name darmstadt, also hesse on one of your census postings, could that be where it was from? also there are more than one spelling of the name nein, and I wondered why? It is nice to meet "family" on the internet hope to speak again with you soon! Gretchen Bergman
