Hi,
I am wondering if there is a possible connection between your Neilson's and my husband's.
My husband's grgrgrandfather was Samuel Neilson. He was born in Armagh,Ireland in 1805.He married Elizabeth Tuttle in 1827.She too was from Ireland.I was told by my husband's uncle that They came through Canada and The Neilson brother's split up some changing their names to Nelson. Samuel changed his to Nelson and settled In Hammond,N.Y.He had several children including a daughter Elizabeth born 1828,Joseph born 1830,,Margaretborn1834,Samuel born1836,Mary A born 1838Alex born 1841.My husband descends through Alex. The sons Joseph and Samuel moved to Michigan and raised a family.
We were told that the elder Samuel's siblings moved to other states but not sure where.
Hope this info helps.
