Rob Neal, William Neal, John and Malinda Caudle

I have an ancestor John Lewis Caudle, b. about 1812 - 1820, who had a Bible with the names Rob Neal and William Neal listed in it along with birth & death dates of his children and wife, Malinda (last name unknown). Death dates were not completely legible for Rob and William Neal.

John Lewis Caudle was born either in Illinois, North or South Carolina. His wife, Malinda, was born in Tennessee.

I am assuming that either

1) Rob and William Neal were brothers of his wife Malinda, or

2) Rob and William Neal were uncles of John Lewis Caudle.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?
