I am trying to trace the descendants of John M. Neill and wife, Martha C. Moore. They settled in Jackson County, Tn. Their children moved on to Putnam, Hamilton & Sequatchie Counties. The children were: (1)James C. m. Martha Bain, lived in McMinn died in Civil War, one son John W.(2)William M. m. Elizabeth Durham. Children Samantha , John Martin, Martha J., Garrett Sadler(my line), Willie, Jessie, & Cora. (3)Bethena Ann m. John B. Newman had children Sarah, Jack, William, Thomas,Daniel, Josie, Mattie, Lafayette, Mary Ann & Henry P. (4) John H. m. Mariah Fuquay. Census records say 13 children, I have 15 names. They are Daniel, William, Cullom, George Ann, Luella, Alvin, Kansas, Dora, Albert and Owen for sure. Possibly Cicero, Jimmy, Thomas, Mary Elizabeth & Sallie (5)Peter W. died young. I have never found any marriage. (6)Mary L. Neill never married, but had sons Francis, James, Miles Hayden, John Matthew & Darb/DeLafayette. (7) Roena married John B. Steakley and had children Milton, Martha, Ibby Ann, Charles, Carrie, James & Elizabeth. (8)Harrison Hodge(Dock) married Cassandra King and had Mattie, Laura, Ada, Pheobe, Eura, Alice Malisa, Henry Hodge, Thomas, James Earl, Willie Bascom, Comer Virgil, Chrlie P, Ila, & Gordon. (9) Martha F. was 16 in the 1880 census. That is the last bit of info I have on her. I believe John remarried after Martha's death, but there are no marriage records for that time that survived in Jackson County, so I don't have a name for the second wife. I especially need help on John H. Neill/Neals children and those of Harrison Hodge(Dock)Neill. Alot of the ones I am missing moved to Detroit, Michigan. Several were supposed to be buried in a Royal Oak Cem. but I recently uncovered a listing of the Royal Oak Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan and there were no Neill/Neals listed. Anyone with info on any of these people please contact me.Thanks!
