I am looking for information on Ebenezer NEILL/NEIL born about 1827 possibley in Fenwick, Ayrshire, Scotland. He married Mary KNOX and had one daughter Mary chr. 17/8/1845 in Coylton, Ayrshire, Scotland. (I cannot find a marriage record for Ebenezer NEILL and Mary KNOX).
It is possible that Mary KNOX died bef 1851, as I found Ebenezer married again on 12/12/1851 in either Kilmarnock or Craigie or Symington, Ayrshire, Scotland (Found three conflicting entries on the IGI website) to Mary STEVENSON.
The only references to Mary KNOX is on the 1841 Scottish Census and on the marriage certificate of her daughter Mary NEILL when she married Joseph BETTS in 1863 in Eaglehawk, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. Mary had 10 children.
I have found Ebenezer, his wife Mary, daughter Mary & son John on the shipping records coming to Australia in May 1853.
Son John died in 1854 and another son William was born in 1854 in Brunswick, Victoria, Australia and died in 1936 in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. William had four daughters and was married to Elizabeth CARR.
Also had a daughter Jane Jamieson NEILL who died aged 2 in 1858.
Ebenezer NEILL died from drowning in the Yarra River in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1878 and he was a Quartz Miner.
Any help is much appreciated.
