NEIL//MONAGHAN connection. Clonaslee&Moycashel

My grandmother was a Monaghan from Moycashel, near Kilbeggan, Co-Westmeath, Ireland. Her mother was a Mary Neil<acc to my grandmothers 1893 birth certificate> who married James Monaghan c.1883. Mary Neil came from the Townland of Ross in Clonaslee, Co-Loise.
Somewhere along the line my Neil's became O'Neill but the records for Ross Townland show the name as NEIL in the 1901 census.
The church records for Clonaslee that are available before 1901 show the BMD's for NEIL in the townland of Ross.
Anyone connected to this branch?

Patrick.
