I received your message, and was glad to hear from you. Our mailing address is Lee and Linda Gandy, 119 Gandy Lane, Mena, AR 71953. I appreciate you making a copy of the obit for me.
You mentioned that you would like to have a picture of William's grave. Are you talking about W.J. Neighbors, born 1827 and died 1897? If so, it would be a easy thing for me to go to that cemetary and take a picture for you. There are three graves in that lot, but W.J. Neighbors is the only grave identified. I spoke to an elderly lady several years ago about the two graves, and she said that it was W.J.'s wife and child. This lady remembered W.J.'s wife. Her name was Frona. When Frona died, everyone went to the parents of this lady I spoke to. She was a small child, but remembered it well. In those days the bereaved family went to the home of a friend instead of going to their own house. Friends would stop by to visit and have refreshments, then everyone went home. Let me know if this is the William you are speaking of. The cemetary is only about six miles from Mena.
Well, I still haven't made it out to the Gann cemetary at Potter, but I will.
I have a note I made from microfilm at the local library. It stated that Grandma Neighbors was ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm Shelton. This word was received in Mena, dated April 27, 1904.
I have a Joseph Brown Neighbors who had two wives; Sarah roberson and Mahala Kent. there were 7 children by his first wife, and11 children by his second wife. Do you have a connecting link to Joseph?
Will close for now.
