Thank you so much for your response. The names you mentioned are very interesting. I believe my husband is a descendant of Walden Griffin and Esther Rollison/Rawlinson of Effingham. Finding out that his family and mine were both from early Effingham was a shock, especially since he and I had never laid eyes on each other until 21 years ago, and neither of us had any idea where our families in America originated.
I have some information that leads me to believe that John Gotlieb Neidlinger had a sister, Catherine Margaret Neidlinger. I have some Effingham books which mention her as a sponsor of a couple of newborn children in the 1760's, and mention that she had been given 150 acres by Uldrich Neidlinger which she sold back to Gotlieb in 1785.
Catherine Margaret married Charles McCoy. Their children were in Old Pendleton District/Anderson, SC, by 1810. Two of the children married MAYFIELDS here in Anderson. These Mayfield children were of Abraham and Dorcas Bishop Mayfield.
It is quite a coincidence that our families contain the same names. Do you have any Mayfield info or Rollison?
My Catherine Margaret was a widow before 1785 and had remarried John Ihle/Ihley. I have been unable to find them after 1785.
