Hello Mr. Muller,

My name is James Oakley from burlington nc. Back in 1994 i found an old holy bible which dates back to the 1800's. In the bible is a obit. of a william c negley.

william was born in bulter co. dec 18th 1850, and died of pneumonia on april 7 1909. His farther name was john h negley, and his mother's name was mary harper negley.

william attended the pulbic schools of the borough, and for a short time was a student of what is known as (The Old Stone Academy) in 1865.

william also went to the United States naval academy in Annapolis for four years, was assigned to sea duty for a few year, after which he returned to butler, and begin working in the office of the citizen, which was acquired by his father in 1870.

william work with his farter in the publication of the citizen until 1888. william then took over the paper, and became it's editor, and owner.

william sold the newspaper to another management last fall (doesn't give the date), but my guess is the fall of 1908.

william had an office in the butler county national bank building.

william negley was married in 1887 to a mrs emma stauffer.

william childrens were william, and john of butler, and mrs william felton of west virginia.

I don't know anything else about about his kids except what is mention here.

I am emailing you to let you know that the bible does not belong to mr. negley, because there are a lot of names written in the bible in the area for deaths, marriages, and, birth's, but no negley is in there, so i assume the people who once owned this bible knew him very well to have his obit. in it,.

You might can contact them, or some of there kin if the ones in the bible are all deceased.

Also i have papers an letter with more names on them.

Thank you for you time, and good luck in your search.

James Oakley
