Robert E. Goodwin, late 19th cent.

Seeking information on Robert E. GOODWIN in the latter 19th century. This is my last query for the GOODWIN family at this time.

Robert was the youngest child of Dr. James Horace Goodwin and Ruth NEGLEY. He was probably born in Tarentum or Deer Twp., Allegheny Co., PA in 1854 or 1855 and accompanied his family to Clark Co., Missouri before the 1860 census.

In 1870 he is listed in Wapello Co., IA and working as a telegraph operator. In 1880 he is still in Wapello Co., single, and working as an “agent.”

Felix Casper Negley had him in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA in 1898 but offers no evidence in support of that statement.

Could not find him in the census AFTER 1880.

QUESTIONS: Did he ever marry? If so, whom, where and when?

When did he die (and where is he buried)?

Willing to share information
