Hi Neil,
I would be very interested to see your particular family tree, too.I believe there is a connection, with the Wiltshire Neelds, from stories told by family members in Oz. possiblyfrom as far back as 1776 which is as far as any records I have go.
Our progenitor in Australia was Frederick b.feb.15.1830
bP.Apr.11.1830 St AugustUS Lambeth.emigrated to Australia on the ship "Duke of Bronte"15th May 1849.
d.1913 A colorful family indeed which I cAn tell you more about in time if of interest to you.
BUT BACK TO 1776;
A RICHARD NEELD m. Mary Short 22 July 1776 at St Clement Dane London
daughters Elizabeth and Mary.
son JOSEPH bp Nov1778 St Martin in the Fields. d.4 Jan 1863
Law Clerk.
m.Harriet Elizabeth Boxall 2 Nov.1800 at Orpington
Harriet b.ca 1778-9
Children: RICHARD,Harriet,Joseph George,William,Louisa,MaryEliz.
RICHARD b31 Oct.1802 bp28 Nov.1802St Clement Dane. Metropolitan Police Sgt.1830 -1850 d bef.1862
m.Catherine Evans 6 june 1825 Christchurch Greyfriars
children Joseph George,FREDERICK, Harriet Eliza
Joseph George, bp 4 June1826 had 3 daughters to my knowledge, two of whom came out to Australia.Connie and Clara joined "Uncle" Frederick at Wyalong N.S.W.
a third sister in England was married and I have a reference to her as Kathleen Hoare.
FREDERICK.b.15 Feb 1830 bp St Augustus Lambeth.
There were photos of Grittleton in my families homes, tales of a connection to the Court Jewellers,Rundells,I had an uncle named Algernon after the 2nd Neeld Baronet, also tales of Frederick going back to England to see about contesting a will of one "Miser Neeld " of London, who left his fortune to Queen Victoria, but no one would take on the Crown. It was also mused that the Rundells bought up a lot of french aristocracy jewels to help them escape from the revolution. There is a connection I think round the Rundells and Joseph of Middlesex.
Susanna Rundell m John Bond 13 May 1765 Westminster Mary le DStrand church.
Joseph Neeld of Middlesex (b.1754 d. 29.12.1828)
married Mary Bond (daughter of John and Susanna)29.03.1788
Joseph of Grittleton, Wiltshire, was their son.
