Warner Co., 1889 Cushing, Thomas, 1821 Pg. 726 WILLIAM NEEL(deceased) was born in 1827, a son of ARCHIBALD and MARY NEEL. His early boyhood was spent on the farm, and later he became a practical agriculturist. He owned a farm of 100 acres in Mifflin Twp., in which he developed the coal, and also operated the McELHANEY and SMITH coal mines. As a coal producer he was well known and esteemed by miners and river-men, his fair and just dealings winning him many friends. He was an active member of the McKeesport Presbyterian Church, and politically was always identified with the republican party. He married, in Somerset Co., Pa., NANCY, born June 4, 1838, a daughter of JOHN and SARAH (KEEFER) WOY, and this marriage was blessed with four children: JAMES E., IRENE, CORA M. and NORA. MR.
