This is what I have on Gideon Gill/Gills's and children:
Gideon E. Gill (b.1790) married Mary Tancil(b.1800) Aug. 15, 1816 in North Carolina. Gideon Gill died in 1838 in North Carolina. his will was probated April 9, 1838. About 1842 Mary and several children came to Tazewell Virginia.
Their children were:
1)Frances Gills(b 1816) married Samuel Crockett
2)James A. Gills (b 1818)
3)Joseph Gills (b.1822)married Elizabeth Payne July 7, 1846.
Wesley Gills (b.1856)
William F.Gills (b.1869)
Frances M.Gills (b.1873)
Isiah B. Gills (b.1875)
(Joseph is in Bland County in 1880(was Tazewell County until 1860's). Mary his mother is living with them she is listed as age 90.)
4) Rebecca Gills(b.1823) married William Day
.
5)Robert Gills (b.1824)married Ellen Jane Pain July 7, 1859
Mary Gills (b. 1864)
Robert Gills(b.1866)
(Robert was killed in Civil War)
6)Thomas Gills(b.1825) married Elizabeth Lewis Feb. 5, 1857
(I can find no records on Thomas and Elizabeth Gills other than marriage record.They probably died young and could be parents of Barbara and Albert Gills that lived with George and Elizabeth Bryant, in 1870.
7)William Gills(b.1826)married Emily Washington Apr.8,1841
8) Benjamin Franklin Gills(b.Mar.1835) married Mary Neal(b.1834),married in about 1853 in Tazewell Virginia.
(They were my Great Grandparents.
As you see Gideon Gills married Mary Tancil and his son(my Great grandfather Benjamin F.Gills married Mary Neal/Neel.
I think the Payne/Pain girls that Robert and Joseph Gills married were from North Carolina.
