I have been searching for over 30 years for my Irish connections to my great-grandfather, Richard N. Needham. He came to the US in 1861. He said he was born in Ireland in 1833 and apparently said he was from Cork, but I find no connections there. He had a brother William and a sister Catherine (she born in 1852) who also came to US.
Could the name have been Nee in Ireland? I always thought this was a change that happened 200-300 years earlier. What does anyone know of the history of this name and probable locations in your fair country?
