Henry Ankeny, B. 2/22/1805, D. 10/9/1878, M. Mary Magdalena Cunningham, B. 1/1/1816, D. 7/16/1891, These dates are from tombstones in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near their home. On the name of Henry's wife there is a bit of controversy. Her name on the tombstone is Martha; In the register of Wills office, Somerset, Pennsylvania; it is Magdalena. *William Ankeny was one of the last of the children living. He claimed his mother was called Mary. Names of the children comes from the Ankeny Bulletin, that had been published by Rev. Rolfe Kemp, of Defiance, Ohio. In this publication it also states that William Ankeny was the one who changed the spelling of the name from Ankeny to Ankney. Some data has come to me it is questionable as to the Henry involved, this is the Henry who is the closest and is he who sired the daughter of Catherine Nedrow. Is it possible he did not marry her due to her being much older than he? She was 34 when Martha was born. Thus it is my belief that he is the one involved. LWJ. 4B. Catherine Nedrow, B. C1798-9, D. after 1880 All data on her comes from Census Records held at the Somerset Historical Society, and the marriage Application and the Death Certificate of Martha Ankeny Witt. #32133.
