Joy - from my records your grandmother (Pauline) was my great grandfather's sister. My g gf was Wilhelm Gottlieb Necker, bn 2 Oct 1867. Pauline (middle name was Margaretha) was bn 31 Oct 1869 and died 9 Apr 1941. Their father was Georg Frederich Necker and mother was Christine Margarethe Graf). Pauline's married name was Wagner. And my father (Willaim C. Necker) has spoken of Aunt Pauline and the Wagners.
I think Pauline emigrated to the USA in 1882 and my g gf came two years later in 1884 (the last wave of the immediate family).
I have lots of history to share and have other Necker contacts who have and are doing "Necker" research. One is a 'cousin' who great grandfather was a brother to mine, so same generation. Marge still lives in Philadelphia.
This will be of interest to you. I have a copy of a letter in my file which I got from my father's cousin Evelyn Horton, through Claire Vogt that has an address of 97 Ausable Avenue, Randall Manor, Staten Island 1, New York, that in part says,"My mother, Pauline, and I think two of the younger boys came over last. All the children were young when they came to this country. My own mother was only about 12 or 14 years of age." so thant sould be your mother's letter.
My wife , Anne and I have been to Waldenbuch 3 times beginning in 1995 and have reestablished our "roots" there. What a wonderful place. We had Necker guests here in 1998 and will entertain Edelgard and Heinz Necker here in February.
I was born in Phila. but later escaped! I have lived in Denver since 1970. Would enjoy talking with you (O) 303-721-1555 and (H) 303-721-9512.
Please give me a buzz.
