Donald, there was a Charles R. Necessary in Independence Missouri 1930 census, age 6 (in April). So he would have been only 17 or 18 in Dec 1941. Does that compute with anything else you have? Charles' father was Bryan (1896) Necessary and can be traced back to William Henry (1775) Necessary. Other candidates for "C.R. on USS Arizona" would require at least a little more specifics to consider a match.
