Jerry, I haven't been able to "prove" exactly where in Germany as of yet where our Nebergall/Niebergall's came from, however, there is a "Castle Glieberg" in Giessen, Germany, which was "part" of Hessen, Germany and a "Paul Niebergall" was an inhabitant of that castle. My uncle, while in WWII, visited that area and was given a picture post card with the "ruins of a castle". It states on the back: "Burg Gleiberg b. Giessen
Inh. Paul Niebergall
Herrlicher Rundblick liber das Lahntal, Vogels-berg und Taunus-Autobuslinie Giessen-Krofdorf 20 Minnten
Fernruf Giessen 3444"
My uncle had it deciphered by a German person and this is what he said the post card read:
"Castle Gleiberg near Giessen W. Phalla
Beautiful view all around over the Lahn valley, vogelsberg, and taunus town ? (mountain range).
Since a "Niebergall" apparently lived there for whatever reason, it would seem he would have had family nearby. I do know Nebergall's came from Germany. One of my goals is to research that part of Germany further, however, I just have not been able to do it as of yet.
