Hello Neale families,
I was researching my Heale family history of Tidewater Va. when I came across reference to a Mr. Heale in a letter in 1682 from Col. Cadwallader Jones to Charles Lord Baltimore III. It referenced the name Mr. Heale.
I had my UK genealogist find the original letter and it's clear that the name is Mr. Neale, not Heale.
I'm posting this information here so that Neales of Virginia or Maryland might make use of it. This data isn't
much more than just the name "Mr. Neale", but it shows that Lord Baltimore confided in this Mr. Neale as he
asked Neale to pass along a request to Jones to spy on ex-Governor Fendall. Seems that Lord Baltimore was concerned that Fendall might start another "Bacon"-like rebellion.
The letter is contained in the Calendar of State Papers America and the West Indies 1681-1685. You might find a snippet of it if you google it, but the name that will appear is Mr. Heale, which as I've said is incorrect.
I can give you a bit more information on this if interested. Send me an email.
