Unidentified Neale/Neal born 1819-1834 in VA or KY
I am searching for the children of Stephen Neale/Neal and Sarah "Sally" Lake. Stephen was born about 1790-93 and Sally was born about 1800. They were married 21 Jan 1819 in Harrison Co., VA (WV). Based on the 1830 census, there were 5 children living in the household. Two females 10-15, one female 0-5, a male 0-5 and a son, John William Neal, b. 29-Jul-1825. It is possible that one of the females age 10-15 is not a child since only one was listed in the 1820 census. It is also possible that more children were born after the 1830 census.
A will of a relative indicates that the family was still living in Harrison Co. as late as 1832. According to other family records, the family moved to Kentucky at some point, settling near Lexington.
According to the family records, both Stephen and Sally died when John was very young. John was taken in by a slave owner in Kentucky but ran away in 1836 or 1837. He ended up in Vermillion Co., IN by 1838.
My speculation is that both Stephen and Sally died during the Cholera Epidemic of 1833-34 in the Lexington area.
What happened to the other children? Did any of them meet the same fate as the parents? Were they taken in by others? Did they end up in the Lexington Orphanage Asylum?
I am hoping that someone has an unidentified Neal born between 1819 and 1834 which might be one of these children.
I would also like to see more male Neal(all spellings) particpate in the Y-DNA study at

I participated in the Perkins Y-DNA study and it definitely helped me tie my brickwall to a specific line.
Thanks for any help. Jim Perkins
