Hello,
Last week I checked census pages and didn't find any NEAL families living in NJ in 1790.And there were many NEAL families living in NH in 1790.
I didn't have time to follow up with this.Since it's a SNOW DAY here in New England, maybe I'll check it out again.
In 1810 NH, most of the families were in Portsmouth and Newcastle(Rockingham Co.).I didn't find a Daniel early, so I checked 1860.This is probably Daniel:
NEAL, DANIEL(1860 U.S. Census)
MAINE , WASHINGTON, JACKSON BROOK
Age: 67, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: NH
Series: M653 Roll: 455 Page: 329
He has a wife, Mary, 62,born N.B., with him, and a dau.?, Hannah, 16, born Maine. And a farm laborer, Stephen WEBBER.
Living right beside them is Levi NEAL, 27 (son?), and his wife?, Lydia, 18, and dau., Adeline, 2, all born in Maine. They have a farm laborer, 16, with them.
There is also this family nearby:
NEAL, DANIEL(1860 U.S. Census)
MAINE , WASHINGTON, TWP 9 RANGE 4
Age: 35, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: CANA
Series: M653 Roll: 455 Page: 333
(wife born N.B.)
That's all I'll say for now.I'll do more investigating during the day.
