William Lindquist

I am looking for a death record and burial information about William Lindquist. On census records for 1940 it states he was still single at age 69 and a lodger. I don't think he ever acquired any land or had a wife or children. I called the probate office for Seward Co. and they say they have no probate record for William Lindquist. I am very positive he died in Staplehurst. I believe he lived in Staplehurst when he lest Red Cloud, Ne as an adult. He was born about 1871.
Does anyone know how to search for someone who was possibly buried in a paupers grave or as an unidentified person? Is there a cemetery that paupers are buried?
Any help is greatly appreciated. William was an orphan who came to live with my family about 1880 and he is the greatest challenge.
Thanks.
