Hi. I always make volunteer research available not only to the person with the query but also to anyone seeking this family history. Thus I am posting rather than emailing. Hope that's okay.

The 1940 US census is now fully indexed and free to search at Ancestry.com.

I'm not sure exactly what you are seeking?

1940
Oakland, Alameda, California
Address: 2632 Valdez
Milton C Headding 37 b abt 1903 Missouri, installer, screen windows
Gladys N Headding 37 b abt 1903 Nebraska
Robert Lebdell 16 stepson b abt 1924 Wyoming
Betty Lebdell 13 stepdaughter b abt 1927 Wyoming
Milo G Headding 3 son b abt 1937 California
Residence in 1935: Same Place (a question on the 1940 census)

Iím showing the ďLebdellĒ name as transcribed; the original handwriting looks like Lobdell.

As for Charles Dudley Lobdell, thereís more than one Charles Lobdell, so please add an approximate birth year and birth place. I canít tell if heís a husband or contemporary of Gladys, or a son of hers. In a simple search (with no DOB) I could not discern him.

Ditto for Edson Gering. Is he Gladysís father? Born about 1862? And her mother is Nellie Winner? One son of this couple is listed as born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, which makes me think it might be the right family.

Please post a transcription of the 1930 census for both Edson Gering and Charles Dudley Lobdell, since you have that record. Thanks. Perhaps you'll search the 1940 census yourself and can add those if you find them.

I find a WWI draft registration for a Charles Dudley Lobdell born 21 April 1884 in Nance County, Nebraska.
