SMITH & WWII Sub. USS WAHOO
Greetings!
Looking for any family, relatives of Donald Owen SMITH.
He was a Sailor aboard the submarine USS WAHOO in WWII.Loss date of the Sub was Oct. 1943 in Northern Japan.I believe I found this family in the 1920 and 1930 census in Humboldt City and Falls City. The family members are listed as follows:SMITH:Albert/Alvin, Clara, Elizabeth, Floy, Harvy, Gladys and Owen. Also listed in 1930 is Lucinda Smith, as mother. There also maybe a connection to the town of Trilla, Coles Co., IL.
I also found mentioned on US Gen Web. NE, Saunders Co., Wahoo Twp. the following:Memorial of Submarine Wahoo at courthouse.Honors Donald SMITH of Humboldt and Robert JASA of Wahoo.
I am a volunteer assisting in a project in trying to find any family or information.
Thank you!Sharon
