Silas B. Day, was born April 15, 1851 in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away Friday morning December 11, 1936, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 26 days.He was united in marriage to Mary E. Vanausdoll at Otterville, Illinois, June 12, 1879.They came to Nebraska in 1886, and he lived in Richardson and Pawnee counties until his death.He is survived by his wife, one brother, John B. Day of East Falls Virginia, five sons and three daughters as follows:
John W., Moran Kansas; Charles A., Morrill, Kansas; Anthony J., Yakima, Wash.; James M., Balleyville, Kans., and Lewis A., Table Rock, Nebr.; Mrs. Cora Spaulding, Dawson; Mrs. Mayme Shiley and Mrs. Jessie James of Humboldt.Also twenty-eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.Three daughters and one son preceded him in death.He also leaves other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his passing.Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon a the Kovanda Funeral Home, conducted by the M. E. pastor, Rev. Arthur Embree, and the interment was in the family lot in the Table Rock cemetery.
Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. Darrel James and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rexford Day, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fenel (Fencil), Miss Zeda Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Frank James and children and Mr. and Mrs. James Shiley, all of Humboldt; Joe Wilcox, Pawnee City; Ernest Holliger, Summerfield, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Spaulding, Stella, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Garl) Spaulding, and Mrs. Thelma Brown, Falls City, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Day and sons, Morrill, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Jame Day and family, Balleyville, Kansas; and Mr. and Mrs. John Spaulding and son, Dawson, Nebr.
