Nebraska Home Guard during the Civil War

I'm searching for information on the Home Guard that served in Nebraska City during the Civil War. My Great-grandfather
Edwin Adams served in the Home Guard, but I have not been able to find out anything about it or even when he served. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have about it. Are there records of the Home Guard in Syracuse, NE?
