Jane, As a child, I visited my grandparents at Anselmo, Nebraska and there were McGaughey's living there at that time. I have not been back since 1984, so I have no idea what has happened to the family. Writing to the postmaster at Anselmo and asking him to forward an inquiry to any family or old timers in the area would perhaps help. Anselmo is 200-300 in population. The Custer County Historical Soc. has detailed listings of the local cemetaries in the Anselmo area that would be most helpful to you. And Anselmo has a local library that could be of help.
I remember the name GeorgeMcGaughey, why I don't know , but it does come to mind. A local family historical book, "Victoria Creek Neighbors" also contains names on the family and stories concerning them.

Good Luck, Twyla Zak
Hope that this helps you.
