Hello again:
Yes your next best bet would be to see if you could find an obituary. Another thought is that Nebraska did have an 1885 Census but it does not have an index. So that is not really not an option either. Just remember persistence will help you to find your answers. As I have stated before it has taken me 20 years just to find one of my great grandfathers siblings family. But I did it. And mainly it was through the information found in obituaries and Church records.
