I'm looking for my Goodrich relatives, and have quite a bit of information obtained from a history account written by my great aunt, Myrtle Goodrich Herzman in the(1960's?) when she was about 74 years old. According to aunt Myrtle's written history, David Goodrich was one of 3 brothers who sailed from England to America in 1636, and the only survivor. I understand that there is (or was) an ancient castle in Herefordshire called, "The Goodrich Castle". After David arrived in America, he eventually married Sara Marvin in 1645. They had a son David(6) who married Roby Campbell (Roby is supposedly a direct decendant of the Scottish Campbell Clan). David and Roby Goodrich had a son, David H. Goodrich(7) in 1816, who later married Alzina Huling. David and Alzina had 4 boys and 2 girls. One of the boys David C. Goodrich(8), born in 1841, later married Fanny Joy (1863). Melville Jerome Goodrich (my great grandfather) was born in 1862(?). Melville grew up to be a minister who later married Mary Alice Rhinehart. They eventually settled to Nebraska and staked a claim and laid a cornerstone for a town called Imperial. One big addition to the town was named "The Goodrich Addition", after my grandfather, Meville Jerome Goodrich, who built the first home there. They had several children: Nellie, Rosalia, Myrtle, Mary or May (my grandmother), David, Alzina, Frank, and Paul. My grandfather Meville died from a tragic accident in 1906. He fell down a 365 foot shaft, that was somehow connected to the the Gunnison Tunnel being built at that time to carry water for irrigation to the surrounding areas around Montrose, Colorado. My grandmother Mary (or May) Goodrich, later married Tom Lytle. Tom and Mary Lytle settled in Montrose, Colorado and had 5 children: Bill, Arther, Jack, Matie and Dixie. Arthur was my father who died in 1989. My great aunt Myrtle Goodrich Herzman, also mentioned in her story that the names "David and William Goodrich" ran through each generation for many many generations.
If there is anyone out their with a connection to any of the above relatives, please contact me. I would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Debbie Gonzalez
