I am looking for John E. Higgins born Jan 1863 in Iowa County, Iowa. He married abt. 1888 in (might be Clay or Adams County) Nebraska to Hattie C. born Jun 1863 in Ohio. They had children Alpha May 1887 in Nebraska, Emma F Dec 1890 in Nebraska, Ida C. Jun 1895 in Washington, and Helen b. abt. 1901. John's father was Henry Jeremiah Higgins. In Henry's will 1917, John had already passed away and his children are named in his will. Henry married Margaret Mouser 2 Jun 1859 in Iowa County, Iowa. Margret died in October 1864 after the birth of her daughter Jessie May on 29 Aug 1864. Henry remarried Matilda J. Poland Clark on 7 Jun 1865 in Johnson County, Iowa. The difficulty is that the date I have for John E. comes from the 1900 census. The question is who is John's mother. Is it Margeret or is it Matilda? Please, any help would be appreciated.
