Hello Marge.
You can find a listing of individuals in the Norfolk State Hospital in the 1900, 1910 1920 - or until he died in theMadison County, Nebraska Census. Its too bad that the Nebraska 1885 State Census was not taken two years later and you would have found him there also.I know that patients are enumerated as my Great Grandfather was placed in the Hastings Regional Center in 1889 prior to that he was at the Lincoln one but was probably sent to hastings as the less sever cases were sent there when it opened which meant he would have been one of the first patients to have entered the Regional Center in Hastings.I have tried for many years to get access to his medical records but Nebraska State Law does not have a statute of Limitations on Medical Records so my Great Grandfathers Records are closed forever.I did get someone to view the records and give me some brief information from the files but when I tried to get more information last year I was told that the information I do have I should never have received.
You can try to ask for a Social History. But I doubt if they will give you any information.I have asked my local legislative rep to try to help me get some information but he wasn't of any help.
Take care I hope this information is helpful to you.
J. Olson from Nebraska
