First let’s see what we can find out about the family simply with Google search.

Marriage record
Douglas County Nebraska Marriages 1854-1881
Griffith, John B. [22; Omaha NE, b: UT f: Jonathan Griffith; m: Margaret Burton]
married
Louise Hixon [18; Council Bluffs IA; b: England; f: William Hixon; m: Eliza Jane Holt]
married 27 January 1875
OFF: Peabody Wit: Darwin Norton of Council Bluffs; Will B. R. Killingsworth

So John B. Griffith is born about 1853 in Utah.
Louise Hixon is born about 1857 in England.

Additional info in this query: Margaret Burton (Griffith) married No Name Rudd d 1869 somewhere. Margaret Burton was born about 1835 (another online post). Margaret’s father was John Burton b. 1795 in Virginia, mother was Jane Rule b. 1810 in Tennessee.

ONLINE POST:
Jonathan Thaddeus Griffith senior was born in Linburg county, North Carolina and was in Tennessee around the time of his marriage in 1810 to Sarah Lumley.
JONATHAN THADDEUS GRIFFITH and SARAH LUMLEY had 9 children:
Mary,
Jane,
Sarah,
William,
Martha Arminta,
Rhoda,
Arminta Elizabeth,
Jonathan Jr (lived in Illinois and Utah)
Washington Lafayett.
After Sarah died he married Mary Ann Johnson; they divorced about 1846.
He then married Margaret Burton. [05 July 1852 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina]
JONATHAN THADDEUS GRIFFITH and MARGARET BURTON had four children:
John Burton Griffith <-------------------------- “your” John B. Griffith
Sarah born about 1855
Elizabeth born about 1857
Joseph born about 1858

Another ONLNE POST:
I am looking for John Burton Griffith he was born in Illinois 1854 . He had two sisters Sarah and Elizabeth and one brother Joseph. This family or I might say John and Elizabeth were in Nebraska in 1870. In 1873 Elizabeth married a David Bryan but what happen to John?.

Is there more information you can add about this family and their spouses and whereabouts? It could be Jonathan Burton Griffith dies with no death record available to us. It could be he is off on his own somewhere. But it COULD be that his siblings’ whereabouts may be a clue to his whereabouts. Thus, lacking other options, one good strategy would be to “follow the siblings.”

In this original post, we do hear of John Griffith’s full name, his date of birth, his parents and siblings, his whereabouts in various years as you know them, etc. are not given.

So maybe you have more clues to share? If so, that’s our next step. After that, maybe it's "follow the siblings"? It could be John Burton Griffith is lurking in the census but hard to find because of a transcription problem or whatever.
