I believe the only place you're going to find actual death records is by writing for an uncertified copy at the Vital Records Dept. in Lincoln.I was told that they didn't keep death records until 1907.There could be church records if you know the denomination of your ancestors, also funeral home records or try your local LDS church to see where the closest LDS Center is.They can help you find microfilm that can be ordered from Salt Lake City, for a fee, that may have some information for you. What part of CA are you in?There is a National Archives Bldg. in Orange Co. I believe. Are you looking only in Lancaster Co?I've done massive research in NE but am mostly looking in Buffalo, Sherman and Box Butte Co's.We've walked practically every cemetery in those counties, gone to Trails and Rails in Kearney (a treasure trove) and of course visited the many cousins still there as well as attending the yearly cousin reunion in Litchfield. There were County Books done some years ago and I found bios for many of my husband's family in them.Good Luck!
