I'm looking for descendants of Frank H. Tuttle, born in 1868 in Mills Co., IA, son of George Ian Tuttle and Lucinda Jane Jones.
I'm also trying to find out more on William B. Tuttle, father of George Ian Tuttle. Most sources list his birth date as 1813 in New York - I believe Alva Tuttle's book lists this also. This date appears to be extrapolated from the 1870 Federal Census of Gage Co., Nebraska, which lists his age as being 56. However, according to the original copy of his will which I read in the Gage Co., NE Courthouse, he stated he was 56 years old when he wrote it, just a short time prior to his death on Sep. 23, 1878. His tombstone also bears this out, which puts him being born on Jan. 25, 1822.
According to most sources, he is the son of John Tuttle and Nancy Hart of Bath, Steuben Co., NY, from the Dover, NH, Tuttle line. However, the 1830 census of New York doesn't list anybody of William's age (either born in 1813 or 1822) in John's household.
Does anyone have any information that would help solve this quandry? I looked in several places in Nebraska for his obituary, but naturally, none of them had a Gage Co. newspaper from that week in September 1878.
