Usually going up to a place either means going North to get there or else upwards in elevation. As Kearney is straight east of Lincoln County and is also downward from the higher elevations, it would make sense that one would go up to Kearney from Lincoln, Nebraska. One would go somewhat North and also upwards in elevation to get from Lincoln to Kearney.
