Looking for information on my Bray family. We have just found out that John Bray (My GGgrandfather) died in Banner county Neb. Information from there says he was born in Wayne county, New York in Dec. 2nd, 1825. Shows his migration as.....Ohio - Ill. - Wis. - Iowa - Nebraska.
We know that in 1854 he married Mary Ann Logan ( Born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio Abt. September 06, 1836) in Allamakee county Iowa and that they lived there till about 1874. From there they moved to Seward county, Nebraska and were there till about 1894. At this point it gets a little confusing. It would appear that in 1894 Mary Ann moved back to Allamakee county, Iowa with some of the children while John went west to Banner county, Nebraska.
John and Mary Ann's Children were....
G.W. Bray---- All we know is that it Banner county, Neb information says he was the city marshall of Shoshoni, Wy. about 1908 and son of John Bray.

Mary Jane Bray----- Born in Iowa 08/31/1859 ---- married Harlow Taylor in Seward County, Neb Jan 13th, 1880. They moved back to Allamakee county Iowa about 1894. She died July 23, 1911 in Princeton, Mille Lacs, Mn.

Amanda---------- We no very little.... The 1870 Linton twp.,Allamakee county, Iowa census shows she was she was 9 years old and born in Iowa. Lost her after that.

Victor B. -------- Born in Iowa about 1863. Married Ella Bradshaw in Seward County, Neb on October 06, 1883 (Not sure what became of Ella) On April 12, 1891 he married Edith Pearl Wallace in Allamakee Cty, Iowa. He died in Weston, Iowa May 1944 where he was a farmer and an assistant in the post office.

Abijah -----------We no very little.... The 1870 Linton twp.,Allamakee county, Iowa census shows he was 7 years old and born in Iowa. Lost him after that.

Laura (Belle?)------- Born in Iowa about 1865, Married Clem Russell (Iowa?). She died in Banner county, Neb Dec. 27th, 1907. Had at least three children.

John Lewis------- Born October 07, 1866 in Volney, Alamakee Cty Iowa. Married Ruth Angeline Dundee March 08, 1896 in Waukon, Iowa. Died November 09, 1934 in Post Township, Allamakee County, Iowa.

Dighton Wilbur-----Born July 23, 1869 in Volney, Alamakee Cty Iowa. Married Nellie R Meikle July 03, 1900 (Iowa?) Died November 12, 1930 Ludlow Twp. Allamakee Cty, Iowa.

Walter Everette-----Born April 24, 1875 in Utica, Seward Cty, Neb. Married Nettie Rankin October 05, 1897 in Allamakee county, Iowa. ( We believe the Nettie may have died during childbirth September 08, 1902) Walter was also married to Lenora Rozina Dundee on May 31, 1906 in Waukon, Allamakee cty. ,Iowa. Walter died December 25, 1939 in Lansing, Allamakee county, Iowa

Charles Everret-----We no very little.... Born about 1878 in Nebraska ( Seward County?) His mother's obit says he was in Monroe, Iowa when she died.(1914) His brother Victor's obit says that Charles was in Kansas city (1944)

Information from Banner county says that there are two brothers of John in Banner county also.
One is an Robert B. Bray, born in Wayne county, New York Oct. 28th, 1842 . . Shows his migration as..... Ill. - Wis. - Iowa - Nebraska. He married Arista Russell in Oct. 30th, 1872 while in Iowa.
The other brother of John it shows is Samuel Bray. Says he was born New York Aug. 24th, 1832. Samuel had a daughter that was married to a Benson. While the brays lived in Banner county they appear to have been buried in Kimball.

There seems to be some good ties with the Russells and the Logans . The Brays may still be in western Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, or Oklahoma.

Would like to know more about the Brays, Logans and Russells

Thanks
Cindy Bray Lovell
