Patrick!

I haven't checked this board in ages. Sorry.

My John Heenan homesteaded in O'Neill in 1883. Prior to that, he had served in the Civil War out of Covington, Kentucky. He married Ann Hannighan in St. Louis, Missouri in 1869. They had their first child in Covington in 1890:
Children: Sarah, Mary, Clara, Frank,
Margaret, Elizabeth, Helen
and John. Helen and John were
the only ones born in O'Neill.
Helen lived and died in Omaha.

According to his military papers, John Heenan was born in Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland. I do not know the names of any brothers or sisters. His father's name was Michael and his mother was Bridget Moran.

I find it highly unlikely that your Margaret and my John were not related. This name is really uncommon in this area and they could have been brother and sister or cousins since they were in the same little town at the same time. Have you heard from anyone else?

I have been so busy researching on the Borders for the Graham family that I have just now got around to rechecking many boards that I used to post on. Please contact me directly at: wldwd6@aol.com so we can explore this further. I have the names of most of the spouses to these children.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Delia
