I don't know a lot about Upland I will try to see what informaiton I have and see if I come up with anything. The churches that I do know of from that area were Lutheran. In the early 1880's the closest Methodist church that I do know of would have been in Minden. But there was quite possibly a church I don't know about. If I don't find anythin I would suggest that you contact the Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. In the basement of their library is the Methodist Church Archieves in which all the closed Methodist Churches from the state of Nebraska have sent their records. So If we could determine what church you family went to and if it is one that no longer exists then those records will hopefully be there. I have traced my family probably as much through the methodist church records as I have the State and Federal Census Records.
Good Luck and I will try to help as much as I can
J. Olson
