Professor Theodore DECKER

Professor Decker was Catholic and was the musical director Roman Catholic Cathedral in Omaha in 1870. I have both the census records and the news clippings from the newspapers, I found online.

He was a German musician and started several Philharmonic Orchestra's in numerous cities. Those I know of are Omaha Nebraska; Belleville, St Clair, Illinois; and Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, where he died of yellow fever.

After his death, he had a son and daughter that were raised by a couple in Omaha which I found listed in the 1880 census. A concert by the Omaha Philharmonic Orchestra was given in his honor following his death to help provide money for the care of his children.

I would appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to give me especially on his founding of the Orchestra and any church records that might exist from that time. I have written the Cathedral and the currant Orchestra and not gotten replies.

Thank you,
Katrina
