I'm not related but did some searching for you. I believe the parents of Marcus Brandt were Clerk S. and Alma (Lee) Brandt, both probably born in NY. I think the parents of Alice were Daniel and Christina Jarvis. Clark Brandt had his family in McHenry Co., IL, in the 1860 census, showing C.S. BRAND with wife Alma, and children William, Mary, Laura, Eli, Rosalia, Francis, and Marcus. By 1870, the family had moved to Clayton Co., Iowa, near Farmersburg. By this time, Clark and Alma were in their 60's. Their son Eli S. Brandt is living with them, along with Eli's little son, William T., age 3. I see a record that Marcus Brandt married Allie Jarvis in Clayton Co., Iowa, on January 1, 1878. It is more evidence that Marcus and Alice named their first child Alma, probably after Marcus' mother. In the 1870 also in Clayton Co., Farmersburg, Iowa is the Daniel and Christina Jarvis family. Both state they were born in Canada. Children in their household in the 1870 census are: Gilbert, Alice, Matilda, Nelson, and Mary J., all born in NY. I hope this gives you more info to search and a few clues.
