James Whitaker - William F. Whitaker/Mildred Myers

I am trying to find information about a James Whitaker, born in October 1845, in Illinois. His parents were William F. Whitaker, born in Ohio, and Mildred (Milly) Myers, born in Indiana. His parents, William F. Whitaker and Mildred (Milly) Myers, were married on June 13, 1844, in Ripley County, Indiana. I have consulted the census records for 1850, 1860 and 1870 for this family in Indiana, and in Illinois, and for 1880 in Nebraska, with no success.

James Whitaker shows up in the City Directories for South Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, beginning in 1896. During 1896 to 1899, he worked as a “Cooper,” then as a “Butcher.” In February, 1898, James Whitaker married Elizabeth C. Brown, in Douglas County, Nebraska. In attendance at the wedding was a Rosa Whitaker, of South Omaha, Nebraska, probably his sister. About 1900, it appears he went to work for a railroad as an agent, and last appears in the 1904 South Omaha City Directory. It is possible that he and his wife Elizabeth C. Brown Whitaker, moved out of South Omaha at that time.

I have searched and searched, but cannot find any information other than shown above for James Whitaker, his sister Rosa Whitaker, or his parents William F. and Mildred (Milly) Myers Whitaker.

I would appreciate any information that anyone might be able to share.

Thank you.
