I am researching my g.g.grandfather John McCormick who was born in southern Ireland (most probably in the 1840's). I am not sure when he emmigrated to the United States, but I know that he lived for a time in Iowa, and then moved on to Omaha, Nebraska. His wife's name was Mary Margaret Nicol, from Ballymena, Antrim. He had four children, John, Susan, Bernard, and my g.grandmother Mary Bridget Theresa McCormick.
In Omaha they had quite a bit of land and owned a trasnfer business. They also had blacksmiths shop and had horses for hire.
I believe John McCormick had red hair.

If you think there could be any connection between your McCormicks in Iowa and Nebraska, let me know.
Thanks and good luck~
